The Lord Who Sanctifies
M'Kaddesh comes from "qadash", meaning to pronounce clean, to dedicate, to consecrate, to hallow
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that you should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
1 Peter 2:9
The word "peculiar" means a special treasure set apart for God alone.
We are God's own treasure.

He is Jehovah M'Kaddesh, the Lord who makes His people holy;
what He began with the law to the Hebrews,
He perfected through Jesus His Son.

"We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
Hebrews 10:10

Jesus Himself is called "the Holy One".
He is the One who gives us our sanctification.
We are made holy through His death for us.
By faith we receive His holiness.
We can never be holy and sinless on our own.
Many are those who think they are living a sinless life,
who are obeying all the laws and commandments,
even so they are an abomination, as filthy rags to God.

Only by the sanctification of Jesus Christ,
by our confession that we are not and can never be holy,
and by asking the Father for forgiveness through His Holy Son
can we be called His saints, His holy ones.

Jesus is M'Kaddesh.
He is our sanctification.
Through His work on the cross we are separated from the world unto God,
a peculiar and priceless treasure.
Jesus prayer for His disciples and for all those who, down through milleniums would be given Him by the Father from before the foundation of the world, was that they be sanctified in The Word.  God's word is truth, it is life, it is nourishment for our body, mind, and spirit, it is life changing.

Only His Holy Spirit living and reigning in us can empower us to live holiness in every area of our lives.
When we call ourslves Christians, His name is invested in us.
His character, His name, His reputation are at stake in us.

We have been set apart from the power of sin!

Our very lives should portray that difference in us.
Truly we should shine with a unique peculiarity in this dark world and show forth continual praises of Him who has called us
out of darkness into His marvelous light.
